low maintenance
front garden

Brief

The owners of these 2 adjoining houses required something better looking and easier to maintain than the existing bumpy lawn and straggly lavender.

Design and outcome

A mixture of planting and chippings was the favourite choice to replace the lawn.

Caledonian pebbles interspersed with irregularly shaped sandstone stepping stones break up the area.

The planting consists of groups of evergreen box topiary balls, long-flowering Geranium 'Rozanne' and Rosa 'Climbing Iceberg' for the arbour. Both the Geranium and Rose flower well into November, giving great value.

A regular feed of the box balls keeps them healthy, and a cut back in the autumn of the Geranium and Roses is a straightforward job. An early June (Derby day recommended) trim of the box balls keeps their shape.

'Our next door neighbours and ourselves wanted the same low maintenance front gardens. Nancy created a theme which we were all happy with and the compliments on our estate have not stopped! '
