School Garden - Vegetable plot

Brief:

• To build an allotment style plot for the children to learn about growing vegetables.

Four square adjoining beds were built from log sleepers.

 

The children grow potatoes, onions, tomatoes, radishes and lettuce and beans. They rotate the beds they are grown in, and compost the waste in bins built from wooden pallets.

 

It is an excellent way to teach primary school children where vegetables come from and how they grow, and give them a taste of their own home-grown food.
