new borders in
ashtead

Brief

The brief for this garden was to design a new patio and borders to provide plenty of space for planting.

Design and outcome

A design on the diagonal was chosen, and this had the effect of making the garden look wider. Setts edge the lawn to define and keep the shape.

An Indian sandstone patio was laid, and a new step from the bi-fold doors makes entering the garden from the house much easier and safer.

A damp corner to the side of the house was made more interesting by laying setts in a hexagonal shape. At the height of the summer it gives a welcome spot to sit in the shade while viewing the garden.

The all important view was kept with the low fence at the bottom of the garden and passing horses in the field beyond are a delight to see.

'Thank you for the wonderful transformation that you have brought to my garden. Altogether, a fantastic job. Nancy.'
