School Garden - Raynes Park

Brief:

• To develop an otherwise unused area of trees and uneven ground as a 'Maths' garden - a place to learn about Maths-related topics.

Certain unhealthy trees were removed, the ground levelled, and after construction, the whole area re-seeded for lawn. The various activities, such as giant chess board, prime number board and ancient African game, give the children an opportunity to learn in a fun way, as well as the garden being a pleasant and relaxing space in itself.

The mosaic demonstrates how the Fibonacci sequence of numbers creates a spiral pattern which can be seen in nature.
